The Cinnamon Ritual is traditionally done on the first day of the month, by simply blowing cinnamon through the front doorway of your home. It’s quite popular because it’s super cheap and intentional, making it perfect for beginners who want to start something consistent and easy to remember.

This ritual works as a mental alignment tool that helps you consciously set the energetic tone for the abundance and prosperity you are inviting into your life and your home. It reinforces awareness, intention, and follow-through. By pairing a physical action with clear intention, the ritual creates a moment of focus and clear direction at the very beginning of every month.

Magick without action is just wishing and your action shows the universe that you mean business.

Why This Ritual Works, Symbolically:

Cinnamon has long been associated with prosperity, success, warmth, and forward motion in folk magick, spiritual traditions, and Feng Shui. Used this way, it becomes a symbolic marker, a signal that you are choosing to welcome opportunity, steady growth, and positive momentum into your space. It carries strong associations with wealth, success, protection, and vitality across many traditions.

The front door is considered the primary entry point for energy into a home, often called the “Mouth of Chi” in Feng Shui. Working at this threshold makes the ritual feel deliberate and directional.

Blowing the cinnamon is a physical act that pairs intention with action. It helps align your mindset with the idea of receiving, rather than waiting.

How to Perform the Ritual:

1-Take a moment to set your intention. Keep it simple and realistic. Focus on what you want to invite into your life this month, such as financial stability, steady work, peace in your home, or opportunities that align with your goals, etc. Ask yourself, “What does prosperity look like to me?” and write it down.

2-Stand outside your front door, facing inward. Hold about one teaspoon of ground cinnamon in the palm of your hand. Charge the Cinnamon with your energy by visualizing your goals and intentions flowing into it.

3-When the moment feels right, blow the cinnamon into your home, visualizing your intention blowing in with it.

4-Speak your intentions and goals into existence to bring them power. Creating your own words is always best, so use language that feels natural and true to you. Authority matters more than poetry.

Example affirmations you can use or adapt:

“This month, my home welcomes opportunity, luck, and aligned abundance."

"Through the doorway cinnamon I blow, a spell of abundance to let money flow.”

5-As always, pause for a moment of gratitude. This can be silent or spoken.

6-Leave the cinnamon where it lands for at least 24 hours. When you clean it up, do so mindfully. Some people prefer sweeping it toward the back of the home, symbolizing flow and movement, but this is optional.

A Reality Check That Matters:

This ritual sets the tone. It does not replace real-world effort.

If your intention is financial growth, support it with budgeting, applying, planning, or raising standards. If your intention is harmony, follow it with better boundaries and communication.

Ritual opens the door. You still walk through it.

Ritual Alternatives:

If blowing cinnamon is not practical for you, try one of these options instead.

Place a cinnamon stick above or near your front door as a quiet symbol of protection and prosperity. Repeat monthly.

Add a pinch of cinnamon to hand soap and wash your hands on the first of the month, visualizing obstacles rinsing away and opportunity sticking.

Sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon into houseplant soil to encourage growth, vitality, and steady energy in your space.

Remember to always be mindful of pets and sensitivities when using spices.

This ritual is simple by design. Its power comes from repetition, clarity, and consistency. Done monthly, it becomes less about superstition and more about setting a standard for how you move through your life.

Abundance responds to attention, intention, and action. This ritual is the reminder to bring all three to the table.
